Sweets for My Sweet

Anything sweet and cold can brighten up my day. When I am sad, troubled or stressed out, a pint of my favorite ice cream or just a Starbucks Dark Mocha Frappuccino will do the trick.

As a treat for our teammates who celebrated their birthdays in July, we had an afternoon snack of spaghetti, BBQ and AWESOME desserts.

Dairy Queen KitKat ice cream cake! Fudgy, frosty, HEAVENLY!

Reese's ice cream and Double Dutch/Rocky Road ice cream. I like Reese's more because of the chocolate chunks. It is smooth, creamy, chocolate-y and slight salty because of the peanut butter cups.

Ah, what a happy afternoon! How about you? What food uplifts your mood and spirit?

Reading Mode: Bookworm

I love reading since I was a teen. During my grade school days, I was into Sweet Valley High and then into Nancy Drew. I was more into books than television. In fact, that still applies until now.

For a month and a half now, I busy myself with reading chick lit books. I honestly don't know why I am so into this genre these days. I can't stop reading even if I'm at home or in the office after I'm done with my daily work. Maybe I am bored. Or stressed out.  Whatever the reason may be, I love the smart humor and light-hearted tone of chick lit that's why I am so ecstatic to buy my next book even I am only halfway on my current read.

These are a few of the books I finished:

I am currently looking for my next buy. Can you suggest a good one for me?

Nothing Beats Good Food

We had two celebrations that day- a lunch treat for four teammates who finished their contract and a dinner for another four teammates who celebrated their birthdays.

We had email trails discussing where to eat. Mann Yann won! Kanin Club came in second place and so that's where we had our dinner. Chinese food and then Filipino food. Just how I like it!

Here's what we had for lunch:

Chami

Oyster Cake

Fish Tofu Hot Pot

Beef Broccoli

Salt Pepper Spareribs

Sherbet

And for dinner:

Crispy Liempo

Sinigang sa Miso na Salmon Belly

Aligue Rice

Crispy Pork Binagoongan

Tinapa Rice

Sinangag na Sinigang

Seafood Kare-Kare

Laing

Sizzling Squid

Leche Flan

Kanin Club Turon

It was my first time to dine at Kanin Club and I should say I will definitely come back! The food is SUPER delicious. My favorite is the Crispy Dinuguan (I didn't get the chance to take a picture of it because it was the first dish to 'disappear'). I also love the turon. It's like halo-halo but wrapped. We ordered a second batch of this because we really fell in love with it!

The only inconvenience we experienced was getting seats. Unfortunately, Kanin Club does not accept reservations. We got there at around 6:30 pm and we got seats at around 8pm. Yes, we endured 1.5 hours just to have a taste of Kanin Club. Don't worry too much about waiting. I tell you- THE FOOD IS ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE WAIT.
